Percussion
instruments are the heartbeat of any band and
play not only the rhythm, but the melody and
harmony as well. They are defined as any
instruments that are played by being struck,
shaken, rubbed or scraped.
Most
percussion instruments have a distinct tone or
pitch and even a set of drums can be tuned.
Instruments like the xylophone, bells, and even
the piano are struck to produce a sound. Some
other common percussion instruments include the
snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, triangle, wood
block and tambourine.
